August 2010 No photos submitted this month perhaps reflecting the rubbish weather! Its been a month of strong winds and rain - quite a contrast to June. June 2010 We don't get many pictures from Farleton Knott in the SE Lakes by J36 of the M6. John Hamlett took this photo shortly before departing on a 9.5km XC to Arkholme. The River Kent can be seen in the middle distance. The Old Man of Coniston is directly behind the pilot of the red glider. |

May 2010 Friday 16 April was a brilliant day on Whitestones. Here Ed Cleasby soars above the Howgills looking south down the Lune Valley. April 2010 Dave Robinson took this photo high above Grasmere on 4 March. His passenger is Lucie from the Czech Republic. The other wing is piloted by Sarka Teskova (Czech Republic). The view is looking down to Grasmere with the village on the right and the lake on the left. Dave reports that it was "A good day with big wide tandem friendly thermals !!" |

January 2010 It just had to be this one! Monday 28 December provided a superb afternoon's flying for the 14 CSC pilots who made the long walk up Blease Fell to the summit ridge. Dave Horne took this photo of Mal Grout and Paul Smith enjoying the lift at its best. Dave reports that " It was so smooth that you could fly virtually hands-off for the whole time in the air." December 2009 November has been a difficult month for free flying Cumbria with high winds, extensive rain and flooding dominating the month. However on Sunday 8 November, a gaggle of CSC pilots congregated at Burnbank for a splendid autumn day's flying. Here is Lance Greenhalgh in action with Coledale Hause in the background. |

November 2009 Monday 5 October on Blease Fell looking to Derwent Water and the SW. Pete Lloyd reports "A beautiful day, very light winds which picked up slightly at around 4 in the afternoon and gave us all a wonderful afternoons flying back and forth along the ridge to the summit of Blencathra. Dave Robinson is the pilot and the photo was taken by Chris Lloyd. October has been a mixed month with good days when you didn't expect them. To get the best days, you needed to have a flexible lifestyle! |
